Set in the heart of Snowdonia National Park, our courses are led by qualified Mountain Leaders and cover everything from map reading and compass navigation to practical tips on pre-planning routes, understanding mountain weather, and packing the right kit. You'll gain hands-on experience using OS maps, navigating with a compass, timing and pacing, and relocating in poor visibility—all in real mountain terrain.
We also cover key safety skills such as dynamic risk assessment, emergency procedures, and choosing appropriate routes based on conditions, experience, and group ability. Our focus is on giving you the confidence to make good decisions in the hills—before and during your day out. Whether you're preparing for your own adventures or working towards a Mountain Leader qualification, these courses are a great step toward becoming a safe, self-reliant hillwalker.
